What is Cold Laser Therapy?
Cold laser therapy, also known as Low Level Lasers Therapy (LLLT) or Soft Lasers, is a relatively new technology (about 30 years old) when compared to many alternative therapies like acupuncture (which has been used since 8000-3500 B.C.), chiropractic (since 1895) and physical therapy. Cold Laser therapy offers a non-intrusive, painless option to acupuncture and surgery. It targets acupuncture trigger points and does the similar job like acupuncture, but without the use of a needles. Unlike the regular laser surgery, Cold Laser stimulates changes in the tissue by acting much like a heat pad or heat ointment. It will not burn the skin or cut through solid objects, and also provides a non-addicting treatment that eliminates the complications of long-term drug treatment programs.
Why does it work?
1. Reduces inflammation by suppressing inflammatory enzymes that create swelling, redness, pain, and heat and enhances the release of anti-inflammatory enzymes.
2. Accelerates repairing and healing process by stimulating the release of helpful healing enzymes, the fibroblastic and osteoblastic proliferation (for bone repair), and enhancing lymphatic drainage
3. Supplies vital energy and oxygen to individual cell
4. Reduces pain by causing the production of natural pain killer endorphins and releasing tight muscles
